The HSB Color System

Hue

Hue is defined as the variation of the tint or shade of a color. It is determined by using a concept called the color wheel.

The color wheel consists of the colors red, green and blue, along with the colors that they produce when mixed. The hue that represents a color is the degree of the color on the wheel.

For instance, the hue of the various primary colors and pigments are as follows:

The Color Wheel
 · Red: 0°

 · Yellow: 60°

 · Green: 120°

 · Cyan: 180°

 · Blue: 240°

 · Magenta: 300°

It is important to note that there is no hue value for black or white, as hue only represents fully saturated colors and therefore cannot represent any shade along the grayscale.
