There are three main color systems that you will be introduced to in these articles:
RGB is an additive color system where colors are created by adding light to a dark canvas. Hence, it is used by systems that have the ability to add light such as LCD, CRT and RGB projectors. This article will introduce the
hexadecimal color format, the different
color levels and the way the
levels can be mixed to create new colors.
CMYK is a subtractive color system where colors are created from energy that is not absorbed from white light by substances such as ink or paint. This discussion explores
how the CMYK system works, and further,
how CMYK relates to RGB.
HSB is a system based on three ways to vary color.
Hue is the variation of tint of a color,
saturation is the degree the color differs from gray of the same lightness, and
brightness is the dimension of a color that is similar to a point on the grayscale.
This website will endeavor to bring you to a better understanding of these three main systems.
